Memory Box/ Photo/ CD Holder/ Recipe Box

This is a black heavy duty cardboard memory/ keepsake box . The lid has been hand painted with classic black and white flowers and vines. There is a factory printed design on the body of the box. It’s a beautiful way to save all those precious mementos in one spot. It can be personalized with names and/or dates for an additional fee. The box comes with 10 dividers so filing is easy. It would also make a great recipe box. It can hold over 1000 photos. It can also hold 14 DVDs or 18 CDs. There are so many uses for this box.

I used acrylic paint which I allowed to air cure for 24 hours. Then it was given three coats of varnish.

After much pondering, evaluation, and tough decisions it is time to adapt new ideas, modify the Shop, and fill out the inventory.  Changes within the Treasure Valley Flea Market, and the fact that I seem to have reached my sales audience, has lead me to adapt several more alterations, I will be appearing at the listed show dates, and that is all.  I will be seeking a new permanent venue whether through a Consignment Shop or other Brick and Mortor Shopping location around the Treasure Valley and Boise area.  I will continue to be an active member in the other Fairs and venues, time permitting.  This is not an easy decision or one I make lightly.  You can still find us on the web to shop, and available by phone for Customer Service, Custom Orders or General Questions.  Business Phone Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday – Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday.

Painted Wine Goblets with Flowers and Vines 

Description: This is a hand painted set of four (4) wine/ water goblets. These glasses hold 14 ounces of your favorite beverage. Each glass has been individually hand painted with red and white flowers and green and white leaves. These unique goblets are great for any occasion or no occasion at all. They are so lovely they make any occasion a special occasion.

These goblets were painted with non-toxic acrylic enamel so they are perfectly safe to use. I heat set the paint so it is quite durable. The manufacturer of paint states ‘top rack dishwasher safe’, I would highly suggest gentle hand wash, just as you would any other special piece you may have.

New Items At The Alchemists Vessel

Today there are three new items to look at in the shop, and one encore upon request, more should be coming this week and next as we gear up for the Holiday Season.  Custom orders are always welcome.  We like questions, if you have one we will do our best to answer it for you, and provide that special gift you’ve been looking for.

Sterling Silver and Genuine Turquoise Hand Stamped Cross

Description: 21″ total length, the Sterling Silver cross is 1 x 3/4″ at widest point, this pretty little cross is hand forged from start to finish. Cut from a Sterling Silver sheet and hand stamped with an arrow like design for a Southwestern appeal. Hand cleaned and polished. Some of the tool marks are visible on the back along with the “Sterling” mark. Hand set with a genuine Turquoise cabochon and matching beads along the chain.

The chain is Sterling Silver 1.5mm Fine Figaro pattern and finished with a Sterling Silver Lobster Claw Clasp.

Wish Bead Hematite and Sterling Silver Necklace

Description: Single bead chains were called “Wish Necklaces” when I was a girl. When the clasp reached the front of the chain, and touched the bead, you moved the clasp back and made a wish as you did so. Gifts

Every Tuesday I try to list five (5) great gifts to give or gift giving ideas, sites and the occasional link.  However this week I thought instead of gift ideas, a discussion about gifts might be interesting.

gift/gift/

Noun:	A thing given willingly to someone without payment; a present: “a gift shop”.
Verb:	Give (something) as a gift, esp. formally or as a donation or bequest: “the company gifted 2,999 shares to a charity”.
Synonyms:	noun.  present – talent – donation – offering – endowment verb.  give – endow – present – donate – grant – endue

  

Now that the definition is done with, what is a gift and how do you shop for one or decide if something is appropriate for gift-giving.

Is it the amount of money spent?  No.

Is it the thought that counts? Yes.  But that only goes so far.

An article I read several years ago had a check list for Gift Buying and comments on receiving them and what an appropriate response might be to getting one that isn’t exactly pleasing.

CHECK LIST:

How much thought did you put into the present?

Did you spend Five minutes, Five Hours, Five Days, grabbed a chap-stick off the impulse rack at the local Wal-Greens?

Does it reflect the recipient’s taste or style?

Is it something the recipient would buy for themselves?

Did you buy it because you like it, or because the recipient will like it?

(Don’t fall into that trap, just because you like it doesn’t mean the recipient will!  Remember you are buying something for someone else, not for you.)

Would you wear it? 

(Here’s a hint, if you won’t, neither will the recipient).  Ask yourself again if it is to the recipient’s taste or style.

Have you ever seen the recipient with something similar? 

If yes, the item in question is probably a “safe” gift idea.

Is this an appropriate gift?

If your spending $400.00 to impress someone, it is not a good gift.

If your spending $10.00  for the item and the recipient will love it (addition to a collection, a favorite Band’s CD, or something they have specifically asked for), then it’s an excellent gift.

What do you do when some one gives you something you really don’t like, isn’t to your taste or style and there is no way you are ever going to use it or wear it?

Always be gracious, say “Thank you”, and smile politely, and be appreciative, do not make a fuss over it, and try not to look too disappointed.  For heaven’s sake DO NOT re-gift it!  That is just tacky.  Instead try a couple of the following.

Recycle!  Find a use for it.  There has got to be something you can do with whatever it is…

Charity!  A six month waiting period is usually appropriate before giving the unwanted item to your local Auxiliary, Junior League or  Thrift Shop.  There are folks less fortunate that would love to own what you don’t want or need (or like for that matter).

Re-Design or Re-Purpose!  Almost like recycling think of it as today’s Artisan fun buzz word “Up-Cycling“.  Cut it up, take it apart, make something else out of it.  Get creative and figure out some unique and different use or pattern for it.

Tuck It Away!  At some point we have all had something that was given away and we needed, wanted or wished we hadn’t parted with years later.  This is not to say keep everything for an eternity, but tucking something away only to be found later can be like discovering treasure.  If you have put the item away, and come across it again, still don’t like or can not think of an alternate use, then you may wish to reevaluate the item, and either put it away once more or select a more decisive course of action and choose one of the above options.

If nothing else a gift should be heart-felt, and be accepted in kind.

Gemini Zodiac Sign is one of my series of “The 12 signs of the Zodiac” on each very unique woodburned and hand painted earrings.
The front of the earrings gathers my work –pyrography/wood burning, and my daughter’s color work, in a mixed media technique called colored pyrography. Daily Dose of Love Jars – Found this on the net, but it would easy and simple to make one of your own.  Take an empty Jar, decorate it, fill it will notes, reasons you love them, funny sayings, private jokes and give it to some one.  They can open the jar and take out a “gift” every day!
