Links, Promotions, Friday Post 250

Happy Friday,

Welcome to the 250th post of blog.  Lack-luster, I know.  It is a balmy four (4) degrees outside and the snow is piled up against the back door with promises of snowing me in today.  The garage door has frozen shut and is stuck to the driveway,  I kid you not.  As soon as the sun rises here, it’s time to haul out the pick and un-stick it!  That is a first for this California Grrl.  (I spelled it right).

This morning I am out of links and promotions, so gentle reminders are in order.

If you are brave enough to venture out into the below freezing temperatures and the icy roads you can visit the:

Treasure Valley Flea Market
*Expo Idaho
5610 Chinden Blvd.
Boise, ID
Saturday Jan 12, 9 – 6
Sunday Jan 13, 10 – 4
Admission is $2.00 at the door.

*Formerly the Western Idaho Fairgrounds.

The Alchemists Vessel will not be in attendance this month, but you can look for us at the Market in February.

Things are gearing up for 2013 here at T.A.V.  I am in possession of and almost finished with the final module for class, and am well on the way to having the e-book blog ready for inspection (or reading), as well as opening a second shop for the hand-forged items I am making and accumulating.

Thank you for stopping in and having a look.

The Alchemists Vessel would like to wish you a pleasant weekend.

What?  No photos?  Man…

Friday Links and Promotions

Happy Friday,

The weekend is here and promises to be a good one.

I have been trying to think of something to post today, and because I am coming up short, I think I will share a date instead.

November 24th, 2012, is Shop Small Day!  Why just keep it to one day?  What not shop small all the time.  Just what does that mean?

It means to shop your local and independent businesses.  I don’t mean hit the mall with  the other lemmings at 5:00 a.m. on Thanksgiving morning for “Door-buster” sales.  I mean take your time and seek out Main Street, those fabulous little shops owned and operated by a person, not a giant faceless corporation.  Take your time and look on line at some of the wonderful and unique handmade goodies from Artists and Designers all over the country.

This image was downloaded from the Facebook Fan Page for Shop Small Day.

Places to shop small:

handmadeartists.com
The Alchemists Vessel – Jewelry and Gifts
Studio RGC – Twisted Little Things

Thank you for stopping in and having a look.

The Alchemists Vessel would like to wish you a pleasant weekend.

Fun Stuff To Do For Halloween Weekend Links and Promotions

Happy Friday,

I have been so busy this week filling orders and trying to make new items that I have not had much time to do much else.

Halloween arrives on Wednesday of next week and there are some fun things happening around town.

Frightened Felons at the Old Penitentiary
 Friday Oct. 26, 2012
The Old Idaho Penitentiary will once again open it’s doors during the spookiest season! Walk through 140 years of history and, of course, hear about all the scary but TRUE things that happened in every hidden corner.  All ages are welcome, but remember some themes can be too scary for kids under 10.

I attended last year as part of the entertainment. It is interesting and a lot of fun.  History rises from the Dead for this event.

Linder Farms
A real working pumpkin farm.  They are open all month, check the link for times.  This is family fun, walk the maze, but don’t get lost…
Home of BSU’s Corn Maze.

It reads “Bronco Nation”

Field of Scrams at the Farmstead
I-84 and Eagle Road…
Where getting lost means finding fun!

I have not attended this, but I have been to the corn maze and other attractions.  These are OUTDOOR events and it is COLD!  Dress warmly, and bring a flash light, there isn’t any electricity out in the fields or the woods and it’s  DARK out there!

This year is the 13th Annual Haunted World! How appropriate!

This is the largest outdoor Haunted attraction in the area, and it is very entertaining.  The Haunted House and Walk through the woods is nerve-racking fun!   Things jump out at you, costumed players pop out when you least expect it, diving from the corn rows or stalking you through the woods, and there are things planted and buried along the path (like trampolines) that make you feel uneasy.   Spooky, scary fun!

Please remember to follow the links for information, many of these events require a ticket or admission fee.  Times and dates are listed on their websites along with other information, like maps and directions.

Be safe out there this weekend!

Thank you for coming by and scaring up something to do!

The Alchemists Vessel would like to wish you a Spooktacular weekend!

I don’t know anything about this other than they are up the street from my house.  The appear to be an Artists Co-Op that sells food.  I have never been there, and should probably go.  Off State Street in the Collister Shopping Center near the Bowling Alley. Good Morning,

After last Friday’s Fun-filled fifteen links to look at, today’s post will be brief.

Here is a very brief tutorial on how to tie Slip or Sliding knots for those Boho Macrame fashions you’ve been wearing.

The instructions are presented in pictures, the link will take you to another blog page for instructions.
As many of you know I have a passion for all things Monster and Macabre, my very talented friend creates some of my favorites.
Many of you may remember those fun little macabre monsters from last year, “Twisted Little Things”, and there are more to be had (finally!).  Four new Heads of State for your collection, available through Etsy.

Find them at: Twisted Little Things
Aren’t they, um, cute?

Myoats is an online drawing program that allows you create beautiful designs with your mouse.
This is not mine, I nabbed it from the gallery as an example.  Change the color, background, lines and shapes to create your own unique piece of artwork.

Links and Promotions – Things To Do in Boise

Good Morning,

The weekend has arrived!  It is Friday!  On Friday’s I usually share links to sites or information and promote something or someone, shop, art, something.  In today’s vernacular, “I got nothing”, so let’s see what we can’t find on the web.

Looking for something to do this weekend?  There is always Pride, or you can check out the Boise Weekly for activities and events happening around your neighborhood.
Also going on this weekend is the Ye Olde Renaissance Fair at Eagle Island State Park.  Fear Not they say IHOP is giving away $5.00 Certificates for Cart Parking ($5.00 a car to get in!)

I will be the instructor for this weekend’s Jo-Ann Fabrics Jewelry-Making Class.
Looking for something else to do?  Check out the Boise Calendar of Events, music, art, education and governmental goings on.

That’s all for today.   Thank you for stopping by and having a look.

The Alchemists Vessel would like to wish you a pleasant weekend.

A Random Friday

The weekend is here and I don’t think I have ever been so happy to see one!

Friday’s are usually links and promotions, I have been busy with classes this week and haven’t had time to look for much.  My plate is suddenly very full, which is a good thing.

I have been talking about starting to teach classes at Jo-Ann‘s.  Here is there website.  Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores.  From here you can find a store, look for a class, sign up for offers and even shop some of their items.  If you’re a craft-person this is a neat site.  You can even buy a class for a friend as a gift.
Yesterday’s blog discussed tools, a rotary or Dremel tool being the prominent tool.  Here are three links to the tool.
Dremel.com – Website Homepage.

Video Projects – What should I do with my Dremel?

Customer Creations Gallery – What other people did with their Dremel tool.  Some of the projects are amazing!

Like this Curly Maple Clock
A Hardwood Ark

Or this Wooden Sign

Tools are pretty cool.

Next weekend is the last Treasure Valley Market of the season, and I will be attending.  We’ll link the commercial and the event one more time next week.  I hope to see the locals there.

Wishing you all a fabulous weekend!  Rest.  Relax.  Rejuvenate!

Links and Promotions

Good Morning,

There won’t be a blog posting tomorrow as I am in a flurry of activity trying to get ready for the market.  So this morning will be a mix of Thursday’s and Friday’s usual post.

And then again maybe not.  I am short a featured artist this week, so perhaps instead of visiting them on line, might I suggest a trip to a local Art Gallery, Boise has several, and you can walk right in.  Unlike the museum, they are free to browse, and many are in cool locations, below street level or tucked away in buildings that looks like it holds financial offices.  Checkout your town’s local Art underground.

The Treasure Valley Flea Market is this weekend.  March 24, and 25, 2012, at the Expo Idaho Buildings at the Fair Grounds. 5610 Chinden Blvd.  See the Google Map a the bottom of this blog for directions and location.
Top Ten Free TV Websites (Watch for Free, no download)
I know, not much going on in here today. We’ll try to get it together for next week.

Thanks for stopping in.
