Links, Promotions and Events

Good Morning,

It is Friday and the week is winding down and so am I.  Subjects have been difficult this week, trying to find things to write about.

This morning there are a couple of links and of course info on the monthly Flea Market, which I no longer attend as a vendor, but go to occasionally to see what’s new.

There are several new items in the Etsy and Handmade Artists Shops, some are one of a kind and some are customizable, like these cute Captured Color Bracelets.  Currently available in Dk. Blue, Purple, Pink and Olive Green (to be listed).

Diligently working on the material for In Chains, I have gotten brave and decided to let folks have a sneak peek at the work in progress.

Events – What’s going on in Boise this weekend.

Treasure Valley Flea Market
 Idaho Expo
5610 Chinden Blvd.
Garden City, ID
Admission: $2.00

This is the last show of the season, the markets will begin again in September.  There is a show in July that is in conjunction with the Northwest Auto Show, but unless you sling car parts there really isn’t much to see.

Beat Coach Pete

This weekend is the Annual “Beat Coach Pete” Walk / Run Fundraiser.  Get those running shoes out and head to the BSU Rec Center.  Don’t forget to register first!

Not too much else is happening this weekend.  Boise is kinda boring!

Thank you for stopping in and having a read.

The Alchemists Vessel would like to wish you a pleasant day.

Fun Stuff To Do For Halloween Weekend Links and Promotions

Happy Friday,

I have been so busy this week filling orders and trying to make new items that I have not had much time to do much else.

Halloween arrives on Wednesday of next week and there are some fun things happening around town.

Frightened Felons at the Old Penitentiary
 Friday Oct. 26, 2012
The Old Idaho Penitentiary will once again open it’s doors during the spookiest season! Walk through 140 years of history and, of course, hear about all the scary but TRUE things that happened in every hidden corner.  All ages are welcome, but remember some themes can be too scary for kids under 10.

I attended last year as part of the entertainment. It is interesting and a lot of fun.  History rises from the Dead for this event.

Linder Farms
A real working pumpkin farm.  They are open all month, check the link for times.  This is family fun, walk the maze, but don’t get lost…
Home of BSU’s Corn Maze.

It reads “Bronco Nation”

Field of Scrams at the Farmstead
I-84 and Eagle Road…
Where getting lost means finding fun!

I have not attended this, but I have been to the corn maze and other attractions.  These are OUTDOOR events and it is COLD!  Dress warmly, and bring a flash light, there isn’t any electricity out in the fields or the woods and it’s  DARK out there!

This year is the 13th Annual Haunted World! How appropriate!

This is the largest outdoor Haunted attraction in the area, and it is very entertaining.  The Haunted House and Walk through the woods is nerve-racking fun!   Things jump out at you, costumed players pop out when you least expect it, diving from the corn rows or stalking you through the woods, and there are things planted and buried along the path (like trampolines) that make you feel uneasy.   Spooky, scary fun!

Please remember to follow the links for information, many of these events require a ticket or admission fee.  Times and dates are listed on their websites along with other information, like maps and directions.

Be safe out there this weekend!

Thank you for coming by and scaring up something to do!

The Alchemists Vessel would like to wish you a Spooktacular weekend!

Friday – Backyard Visitor

Good Morning,

Friday’s are usually devoted to links and promotions; however; today I am out of things to promote and not only am I out of links, I am also out of Doritos!

Since it is Friday and the weekends are made for relaxing, it might be fun to share the visitor that came to see me the other day.

Once again, I have taken the photos through the glass backdoor, and had my camera set on 13x Zoom.  These were taken at around 5:45 – 6:00 p.m. in the afternoon.

Coopers Hawk, hunting something

He hung out for about fifteen (15) minutes flitting from one fence post to the other further down the yard.

He even posed for me, but just once.

These creatures are fascinating.  This is just one of the reasons I love living in Idaho, I never know what will show up in my backyard.

There it is!

Here he is on the other side of the fence.  It was hunting something. This was taken right before it dove off the fence in search of dinner.

Links and Promotions – Things To Do in Boise

Good Morning,

The weekend has arrived!  It is Friday!  On Friday’s I usually share links to sites or information and promote something or someone, shop, art, something.  In today’s vernacular, “I got nothing”, so let’s see what we can’t find on the web.

Looking for something to do this weekend?  There is always Pride, or you can check out the Boise Weekly for activities and events happening around your neighborhood.
Also going on this weekend is the Ye Olde Renaissance Fair at Eagle Island State Park.  Fear Not they say IHOP is giving away $5.00 Certificates for Cart Parking ($5.00 a car to get in!)

I will be the instructor for this weekend’s Jo-Ann Fabrics Jewelry-Making Class.
Looking for something else to do?  Check out the Boise Calendar of Events, music, art, education and governmental goings on.

That’s all for today.   Thank you for stopping by and having a look.

The Alchemists Vessel would like to wish you a pleasant weekend.

Outside and Gemstones

Happy Friday.  The weekend is here and we should all breathe deeply, take a moment and relax, work week is over and we have earned it.

Sitting here trying to think of something to promote is never easy.  I have no idea half the time what to write, what readers may find interesting, entertaining, useful or worthwhile.

Instead of promoting something on the net and posting links, I thought I would take a minute to look outside and see if something out there wasn’t interesting.  You know what?  Outside is amazing!

So today I am promoting “outside”.  Funny that I would be doing such a thing on a blog, that I want people to read and comment on, and here I am suggesting that you turn off the box and go do something out of doors!

Many of you have seen this picture as it is posted on my wall and the Facebook‘s profile cover photo, but this is outside!  Beautiful, delicate, colorful, wonderful, awesome and inspiring.
Material in this lovely pink, would make a fabulous skirt or dress.  The yellow is bright and sunny, a nice contrast to the pink.  Green, yellows, and pinks are simple, fresh, colors for any Spring or Summer wardrobe.I get a lot of my inspiration from outside, and most of the materials I use come from outside.  Gemstones and precious metals are taken from the ground, and many are left in their natural state, shaping and polishing is all that has been done to them.

Amethysts and Rubies come in crystalline materials that are created in specific conditions to grow in geodes or other formations.
Amethyst in a geode.
Rubies in their natural state, prior to cutting and polishing.  They appear to range from pink to a reddish-purple color.  Some seem to have milky white striations across the surface of the natural stone.
Idaho is the “Gem State”, the Official Stone of Idaho is Garnet.

Garnet is also a crystalline gem.  It comes in many colors from yellow to red, red being the most popular for jewelry.

Many states have official stones, Oregon’s is Rhodonite.  A gorgeous pink stone that looks somewhat like marble.

For designers of all types, nature is an essential part of the process.  Shapes, colors, forms, textures, even the numbers of leaves or petals on a tree or plant can play an important part in the creation of jewelry, fashion, architecture, and art.

The outside world is an amazing place, full of adventure and inspiration.  City or Rural area, there are parks, rivers, wildlife (even if they are pigeons), take sometime this weekend to rediscover the backyard, the playground down the street, the Zoo, your local Open Space or Walking Trail.  The Great Outdoors awaits!

Now, go outside and play!

Thank you for stopping by and having a look.  The Alchemists Vessel would like to wish you a wonderful weekend and in hope that the weather allows for outdoor fun and games!
