Tuesday’s are usually devoted to five items from around the web that would make great gifts.
Today, I want to share another type of gift, something you can give to help another in their time of need. There are lots of worthy charities, causes and other local groups and organizations in your area that are happy to take a donation.
ASPCA
You can make a monetary donation on line (just 60 cents a day can help a dog or cat) or perhaps visit or call your local shelter and ask if there is anything they may need, Pet Food, blankets, toys, perhaps a small monetary donation for things like medicines. Let’s not forget those less fortunate this year.
This site is geared towards kids, not everyone has a coat to keep them warm, especially children as they grow out of them so fast. The link will take you to the site map, where, if you wish, you may type in your zip code to find a place to make your own coat donation. Warm your heart by warming up a child with a coat this year.
Toys For Tots
From the site link you can make a monetary donation, ask for a toy for a child, or find / host a Toy Drive.

Every little bit helps.
This last one you’ll have to do on your own. Every once in a while lists are printed, published or put out somewhere for Seniors in Need, this could be anything from a bottle of lotion, to a warm blanket or any small item that may be beyond a Senior’s means. I encourage you to look though your local papers, open the phone book and find a hospice or other Senior Care facility, give them a call, make a note, then choose a Senior or several and purchase those small items that may be needed. It will make you feel good, and you will be giving the Senior a gift of more than just lotion.

As many of you know, or are aware, Shop Small Business Saturday is November 30th this year. Our scheduled Saturday Jewelry Class will be held depending in attendees. We have some terrific deals in the shop and we hope that you’ll stop in and say Hello.

Today we have a quick look at the Holiday Schedule and Classes in-store at Little Shop of Artists.
During the Holidays the shop is extending the hours of operation customers and weather permitting.
Monday – Tuesday: The Shop is closed
Wednesday – By Appointment*
Thursday – Saturday 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Sunday 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Every Saturday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. we teach
Jewelry-Making 101.
Class Cost is $30.00 per person, attendee provides supplies
Cost: $40.00 per person with Shop Supplied Materials

The Shop will be closed Thursday, November 28th, 2013, Thanksgiving Day. We would like to encourage you to NOT SHOP on Thursday, spend that time with family, friends, and loved ones. Everybody deserves a holiday, make sure they get one, and do not shop on Thanksgiving Day.
We will return Friday, November 29, 2013, through the weekend.
I would however like to encourage you to join us for the day on Shop Small Business Saturday, November 30, 2013. I created this pink crochet breast cancer awareness scarf from a pattern by Timaryart on Craftsy.com. Crocheted in a single crochet with the ribbon made with popcorn stitches in pretty pink Canon Simply Soft %100 acrylic yarn. I finished the edge of the scarf with single crochets and so the total measurement is 4 1/2″ wide by 56 1/2″ long. In honor of my oldest sister who lost her battle with breast cancer at the age of 50, and another sister who is winning her battle against breast cancer, $8.00 from the sale of this scarf will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Thursday’s are usual reserved for a featured artist. Since I do not have a participant today, I thought we would put the Holiday Schedule of sorts up.
Little Shop of Artists will be closed Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2013, Thursday.
We would like to encourage you to not rush out with the throngs and push and shove, spending your valuable time vying for that over-priced mass-manufactured item, and instead spend that time with family and friends. Those “sales” really aren’t sales and handmade items from your local business are so much better!
Please feel free to share this photo wherever you may post. I think it is so important to NOT feed the greed machine.
I made an error, last weekend, November 02, 2013, I mistakenly thought was Shop Small Business Saturday, no sir, no indeed. The correct date for this years Shop Small Business Saturday is November 30th, 2013. Stay home for the holiday and visit your local businesses on the weekend. Those independently owned and operated businesses can only be successful and survive if you, the customer, shop’s there. Why line the pockets of faceless greedy corporations that do nothing for their workers and have no heart or soul? Give your money to those that truly deserve it, those that struggle to make ends meet, those that have small corner shops with lovely items in the window, Cottage Industries that need you more than Target or Walmart or Macy’s does, and their products are usually better than those you can find on the Chain Store rack.

This original canvas oak leaf collage will add a bit of warmth to your home for fall, hanging on a wall or sitting on a shelf. I created this one of a kind piece by painting the leaf with professional grade acrylic paint on watercolor paper and adhering it onto a 4 x 4″ gallery wrap canvas which I have painted with rich warm shades of reddish orange and brown. The sides are painted so no framing is necessary. I then sealed it with acrylic sealer. It’s unique because I left the edges of the leaf slightly raised off of the canvas adding interest and creating depth.
