Today we are going to take a quick look at an item in store and have details for Bird’s Nest Wire Wrapping Class, as taught by Sarah Shannon of Wire Witchery.

Created using Silver-Plated or Gunmetal Tone (over Copper) outer rings and anodized aluminum rings, these lovely bracelets come in a variety of colors to match your mood, outfit, or team.  Ranging in length from 7 – 8.5″, bracelets may be shortened or lengthened for a custom fit.  Magnetic clasps close the bracelets, and may be changed out to a toggle or clasp style of choice.

Sarah says it takes about 30 minutes before the pieces can be moved after gluing backing (post) into place, the last half of class will be used to allow the glue to dry while the pendant project is being worked on.

3/4″ wide, Silver plated wire has been hand-spun, cut, beaded and linked in a Celtic Star pattern. A single silver-lined Czech Glass bead in Emerald hangs from the bottom point of the star as an accent. Hypo-allergenic silver tone ear wires finish the pair.

Bronze charms, stars, gears, and disks encircle the cuff, interspersed with beautiful faceted bi-cone shaped glass beads in Amber and Brown. Makes a soft and lovely sound when worn. Light weight and comfortable.

8-1/2″ total length and 3/4″ wide, including clasp. “Merlin’s Gold” or Jeweler’s Bronze wire has been hand spun cut, antiqued and woven in a version of the European weave. Gears are sold as jewelry components and have never been used in any device or machinery that I am aware of. Disks are hand-drilled and sanded smooth. Each charm and bead is attached individually. Bi-cone beads are 6mm translucent amber and brown. Finished with a matching Toggle clasp.

This bracelet is different and unique in the single color or tone of the rings used.

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers.  It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.  

In other words they give you a day off for working so hard.

Seahorse-Inspired Copper Pendant – Black Agate, Laboradite, Copper

This is a design I’m very proud of. Oxidized copper wire snakes up around the two donuts with frosted green seed beads woven into the mix. The shoulder piece which also acts as the bale, is made from oxidized nickle silver.

Both the pendant and necklace have been oxidized to black and then polished just enough to show off the contours of the piece.

I named this journal the Corset journal because the stitching on the front looks just like the criss-cross pattern of a corsets ties up the bodice of an old gown. This journal is made of heavy tan leather and I have stitched in eight signatures of heavy blank paper with black linen waxed thread. Chain Maille Bracelet Silver Plated with Anodized Aluminum in Copper

From the Captured Color Collection, 7-1/4″ total length , this lovely bracelet is a fabulous accent. The aluminum copper colored rings pop and shine in between the silver plated rings, creating a snake-skin like look. Cool and supple to the touch. The shorter length makes this bracelet a bit stiff off the wrist, but very flexible when worn.

Hand cut silver-plated and manufactured anodized aluminum jump rings are hand-woven in an Inverted Round Maille pattern and closed with a matching silver-plated toggle clasp.

Good Morning,

Today we head back to the shop for demonstrations, class sign up, and hoping artists or customers will stop by to see the shop and what’s in the shelves.

The blog ring is on hiatus, and the shop I have wanted to feature must be doing an overhaul because the cupboard was bare.   However if you would like to check out a really neat blog with stories and other features try Yankee Burrow Creations.

This morning I feature some of my items now available on line at handmadeartists.com.  I love this site and must get more organized to find the time to return to the forum, and participate in all the wonderful things that the site has to offer.  So busy with new things I have fallen behind in the maintenance of others.

Big Blue Marble Upcycled Sterling Silver Ring

Product Details:

U.S. Size 8-1/4. This fabulous bright blue glass cabochon organic shaped statement ring is one of a kind. Crafted from recycled materials, found or neglected items, that with much love and little attention were up-cycled into this beautiful and unique ring. Would make a great Cocktail ring, a terrific piece for dancing in the club or some flashy sparkle as you rock the night away on stage.

Definitely looks hand made, the shape of the stone has dictated the formation of the bezel, soft edges and waves accent the cabochon’s shape well. An elegant ring with a very primitive appeal.

Hand forged from start to finish. The Sterling Silver shank was cleaned and the damaged metal removed. The metal was annealed (heated), re-shaped on a mandrel, sized, sanded, and soldered to the bezel back. Finishing touches include polishing.

The Fine Silver bezel is also repaired and up-cycled Empty of a stone, the missing stone has been replaced with a lovely glass cabochon that fit the setting nicely. Split along the seam, it has been soldered, sanded, cleaned and formed around the glass cabochon, which just happened to fit the bezel cup.

The glass cabochon has bubbles and inclusions inside the piece itself. These may be seen in the photos, although not immediately visible when worn, they add a nice natural look to the ring.

Caught Couture Necklace

Product Details:

Bold, beautiful and antiqued bronze!  Fun and Feminine.  Just right for the Steampunk Police.  Adorned with antiqued Bronze Handcuff, star and key charms, this lariat style necklace has no clasp.  Instead the chain is slipped through on pair of cuffs and attached to another pair.  Adjustable, for three different looks.
Wear it with all the charms collected at the center, like a pendant, or change up the length to suit or mood or attire, the suspened pair of cuffs may be gently pulled downward to chage the postion of and length of the chian, tight like a collar and leash (wink, wink) or loose and intriguing just above the button of your shirt.

In The Studio – New Item Dione / Pandora Style Watch

Good Morning,

Yesterday I was busy running around taking care of errands and other things when I was approached in the jewelry aisle by a woman who was looking for something specific.  Why she thought I was an employee is beyond me, but I did not mind assisting.

As luck would have it, I was wearing a piece of Chain Maille or two, and interested in what I was wearing, she figured I must know about jewelry.  That was some pretty good thinking on her part.

We scoured the aisles looking for what she wanted, unable to find the exact item we had a little consultation and came up with an alternative.  After purchasing the material necessary, we sat down at the entrance and I showed her how to put the item together, and sent her on her merry way to finish up the project, wrap it and get it to where it needed to go.

Intrigued with the idea, although I do not like the Dione / Italian Pandora jewelry (I think it is tacky and ugly), I fiddled around with the idea and came up with this watch.

Pretty in it’s own way, it would be wonderful for those that like the big clunky-chunky jewelry look that is so fashionable and popular these days.  From charm bracelets to necklaces, watches and earrings, these are simple and easy to make on your own.  If you can push a thread through a bead, you can make any of the items above with materials from your local craft store.

The beads are glass and lined with a metal grommet, adding a little accent to the dark bead.  Matching Pink Rhinestone spacer beads set off the lighter pastel color of the glass, making a lovely sparkly design.  The Rhinestones on the watch face catch the light nicely, the silver tone metal is bright and shiny.

Glass beads are threaded along the metal watch band.  If you get bored with this look, it is an easy thing to change the beads along the length of the band.

Measuring at about 8″ this is a great band for those with a wider wrist,the beads do not interfere with the fit and feel rather cool to the touch when worn.

The watch face is very attractive, oval in shape the numbers are easy to read.  The face is small enough to be feminine yet substantial enough to make a lovely focal point.

Wednesday News and Demonstration Listing

Good Morning, 

The blog ring is on hiatus again, and I have fallen behind with this last post.  Last week, Pam of A Bead Thing was featured, if you missed that, please feel free to roll back to the post and see what she doesn’t have on offer in her shop on handmadeartists.com

The first week at Little Shop of Artists was interesting.

Today I am in the garage painting more shelves, installing them and preparing to open the store tomorrow through the weekend.

If you’re in the Boise area stop on by and say Hello, see what’s on the shelves.  If you’re an artists we have plenty of room for more displays for more items.  Come on down and check out the interior and see of we can’t find a spot for you.

Captured Inverted Round Weave Chain Maille

Silver Plated and Anodized Aluminum rings make this pretty and interesting bracelet.  Alixandra of The Alchemists Vessel will be demonstrating the weave Thursday – Sunday at the shop.

OPEN FOR BUSINESS

Good Morning,

Today is the Big Day!  I am nervous, and excited, elated and tentative, all at the same time.  I expect no one to be banging down the doors, and really retail on a Tuesday morning is kind of non-existent, but we are open and in hope if you’re local you’ll stop on in and say Hello, see what we have on the shelves and perhaps visit for a moment or two.
