Studio Time – Class Projects from Jo-Ann Fabrics

Hello and Happy Wednesday!

As many of you know I occasionally have the pleasure of teaching / instructing a class at Jo-Ann’s Fabrics, and also involved in the process of getting my own classes started up as well.

Today I thought we would take a brief look at a Jo-Ann’s Class Project.  All the materials for these were purchased at Jo-Ann Fabrics, 1085 Milwaukee, Boise, ID.

Stone Chips are threaded on to a length of wire (Sterling Silver Plated Copper in 22 Gauge).  The wire is twisted back on itself to form a loop, adding one Stone Chip at a time, the bead and wire wrap around the base stones to form a cluster.  Simple, pretty and may be done in any color or selection of Stone Chip Beads.  These are genuine Semi-Precious stones and include, Fluorite, Amethyst, Rose Quartz, Aquamarine, and other varieties of quartz.

BACK
This is a super simple and easy project that makes a cute pair of earrings.  I like this project because it is totally “organic” and very primitive in nature.  The Craft-person decides on stones and designs the earrings as they go along, the wire wraps naturally (where it wants to) around the beads dictated by the bead shape, creating and additional element to the design. Class Space for this project and others are still available.   This Saturday, June 9th,  1:00pm – 3:00pm, Jo-Ann Fabrics will be having an “Open House” classes are 50% Off for in-store registration, and completed projects will be on display!

There will also be other projects on display as well as other instructors and Jo-Ann team members are always there to help!
Other Projects Available – August
“Crystal Life Bracelet” – using Swarovski elements
“Pearls of Time Watch” – using Glass Pearls and a Watch Face
“Pearl” Earrings -using wire and a Glass Pearls to match the Watch.
There is one more pair of earrings that classes will be given for as well.  Come on down and check it out.

Thank you for stopping by.

The Alchemists Vessel would like to wish you a wonderful Wednesday.

Glass Beads and Charm Bracelets – In My Studio

Good Morning,
Wednesday is here, half way through the work week!

This morning, I would like to show a selection of available bead colors, and styles.  I would also like to introduce a new item as well.  I suppose I could save them for Monday, but I am excited about these.

These are new, customizable, and sizable.  I have a selection of Sterling Silver Plated Charms from which I have created two Charm bracelets.   When I was a girl, everyone I knew had a charm bracelet or one of the those Charm Hanger necklaces that were so popular.  They are making a comeback this year, and I hope for years to come.  Below, one in a Rockabilly theme, that I just think is absolutely adorable, and one for myself.  More charms are always being added to the stock selection.  Drop us an e-mail and see if we have your favorites, or stop by the shop and select a pre-made beauty with room enough to add your own collection of charms later.
7-1/4″ in length is “Rockabilly Betty”, a theme bracelet with Chinese Coin, Dice (they move individually), Skull and Crossbones, Motorcycle and a Humming Bird or Sparrow charm.

Created for me, rarely do I make things for myself, but I just could not resist making a fun piece to wear when I go out.  Also to show more of the charms that are currently in stock.

Counterclockwise: Leaping Frog, Chinese Coin, Dinosaur, Seahorse, Initial K, Western Style Gecko, Initial A, Cow Skull, Airplane, Violin and a Penguin.
We also have earrings that have Dragons, Pegasus, Drum Kits, Frog Princes, Swans, and more that are also in stock and available for bracelets.

Frog Prince, one of my favorites!
Sterling Silver Plated, highly detailed charms are available in a variety of things.

CZECH GLASS SEED BEAD SELECTION

All beads shown have been used in the creation of Chain Maille Bracelets and Necklaces that are currently in the shop. Still don’t see your favorite color?  Special orders are welcome.  Many of these are available in Birthstone colors or would make a fun alternative in, Amethyst, Aquamarine, Silver Lined Crystal, Emerald, Gold (Topaz), Pearl (White), Ruby, January or July Birthdays, Sapphire,

Clockwise:  Czech Glass in Cyrstal Blue Lined, Aqua, Crystal, Amethyst Aurora Borealis finish beads.  These prism in the light, blues, purples, greens, appear and disappear across the surface of the beads.

Clockwise: Czech Glass in Sapphire (mix), Black and Pearl Luster finish beads.  These are opaque with a lustrous sheen.

Clockwise: Silver Lined Czech Glass in Black Diamond, Emerald, Crystal, Sapphire, Amethyst, and Ruby.

Clockwise: Gold, Red, Green, Pink, Blue.  These are translucent, unlined colored class beads.  Very pretty, solid colors.

Clockwise: Czech Glass in, Orange, Red, Copper, Bronze, Silver and green in the middle.  These are opaque, solid colors.

Sterling Silver and Silver Plated items are available to build that special piece just for you.

E-mail us for a complete list of materials, including metal and semi-precious gemstone stock.  If we don’t have it, we can order it.

Thank you so much for stopping by.  The Alchemists Vessel would like to wish you a pleasant day.

What’s In The Shop?

Good Monday Morning to you.
Today’s blog is rather short, I spent some time this weekend learning a new method of creating pendants, and though it did not go as I was in hope it might, I will be trying again.

A couple of weeks back I mentioned that I had acquired some Sterling Silver plated charms, after sorting through them, I have come up with six pairs of earrings, some are typical, some are unique and all are hand crafted or assembled as the case may be.

As always, items may be found by visiting The Alchemists Vessel.  The pair’s title may be found beneath the picture and corresponds to the items on the shop pages as well.

The next item is a Copper bracelet.  One of the oldest metals in use, archeological sites have uncovered copper pieces dating back to 8700 BC, citing Cyprus as one of the major suppliers of Copper in the Ancient World.  Not only was it was an important material for forging Bronze weapons, it was also used for creating jewelry and ritual ornaments.  Reminiscent of the Mediterranean, this copper bracelet was forged from copper wire and disks; antiqued, spun, cut and punched by hand, the exception is the manufactured antiqued Toggle Clasp.  Copper is associated with Aphrodite (Greek) and Venus (Roman), the goddesses of love, copper in its metaphysical meaning, represents love; it has great connectivity and mixes well with other metals and natural gemstones.  Beautiful on its own in this simple Chain Maille weave bracelet.
Don’t have an Etsy account?  Never fear!  You can shop with us on Facebook, too!  Visit The Alchemists Vessel theme shop, and receive and immediate 10% discount off your the items listed retail price.  No messy coupon codes or other stuff to enter!  How convenient and easy!  Link not working?  You can also click through directly from the Facebook page, follow this link: The Alchemists Vessel and click on the button in the right hand corner beneath the cover photo.

Any or all of these links may be found to the right in the menu bar of the blog.

Thank you for stopping by and having a look.  We would like to wish you a wonderful week.

We now have a quick and easy way to leave feedback.  Beneath the post you will now find “reaction buttons” Funny, Interesting, Cool” etc. Fill in a circle, feedback done.

Five Great Gifts to Give 2/28/12

As always Tuesday is gift ideas or suggestions on the blog.  This morning I am a gift short so we have two gifts to give and a two treasuries to look through.  There are three new shops to peruse, too.

Description: Created with vintage antique bronze frame charm pendant and chain.
Very elegant, unique and one of a kind. Custom print and designed with a Hamsa hand for protection, good luck and prosperity.
Necklace is about 18″ long but can be adjusted per request with no extra charge.
ALL MY ITEMS ARE HANDMADE AND ONE OF A KIND.
MGGems created Aquamarine For March Babies a beautiful Treasury collection full of, you guessed it, Aquamarine things for March Birthdays. She has chosen some wonderful items as well.  You’ll have to click through for photos, I can’t post all 16 here.
Aquamarine Crystal

The idea behind Treasuries is to showcase your favorite items from around Etsy, promote others, as it were.  The above Treasury includes one of my items and in return I have curated my own list and added an item from MGGems.

Just Mad About Maille is my own list of Chain Maille items from the shops on Etsy, in other words, my competition.  However as each Mailler is unique so too are their pieces.  No two are alike, many of the weave patterns are the same, there is only so much you can do with a jump ring, but what some of those artists do with those jump rings is pretty amazing.
